I have both and so far no issues, but I felt compelled to ask.
Between the Zeiss V4 Conquest 4-16x44 and the Vortex HD LHT 3x15x 42 which would you choose and why? Clarity, dependability but most important tracking. I do not really care about illumination on this particular comparison.

Thank you!

Haven't looked through the Razor HD LHT but, to my eyes, the Viper HD is at least as clear / bright as the V4. Which would imply that the Razor would be more in line with the V6.

As far as tracking and stuff like that how did those two compare

Sorry...can't help you with a comparison.

10-4 on Toseeno's "not having to use the customer service."

FWIW........

I'm not a scope snob but I am demanding when it comes to my personal optics. Have owned multiple brands over many long years - no major complaints with any. For a good while now, I've owned a Zeiss Gen 1 V4 Conquest 4x16x44 with the cap on both turrets. Feature after feature I love everything about this scope, especially the tracking - quick adjusting illumination - crystal clear lens. While not rough on my gear, this scope shares time on my 2 BG rifles with the usual in my truck and in the field use. Trusted 100%. No dialing, basic duplex reticle, just use hold-overs - I'm good out to 400 yards. As long as I do my part GTG!!!

Now, for my 243 Win COYOTE rifle - I just ordered the Gen 2 4x16x44 Illum. The exposed elevation turret and the MOA reticle are set up for dialing which I can use beyond 400. Learning to dial - a work in progress.

Just one man'e humble opinion on the Zeiss V4. Highly recommend the Gen 1 if no dialing. See no reason to doubt the Gen 2 will be just as excellent with its new refinements.

Hope this helps you.

if tracking and dependability are your #1, take the Zeiss Conquest V4 4-16×44 and don't look back.

Real world reasons

Tracking Zeiss V4s are legendary for box-test perfection. I've never seen one lose zero or drift, even after 200 rounds of .300 WM carry abuse. Vortex LHT tracks great too, but a few guys on Rokslide LongRangeOnly have had 0.2-0.4 MIL shift on high mag dialing with the LHT. Rare, but it happens.

Clarity Dead heat in good light, but the Zeiss glass edges it out in low light and contrast German glass still rules at dusk.

Dependability Zeiss turret caps don't strip, zero stop is bombproof, and the scope just feels tank like. LHT is tough, but the turret feel is a little mushy by comparison.
The LHT is lighter 19 oz vs 22.6 oz and has the better reticle for hunting cleaner, less clutter, but you said tracking is king. Zeiss wins that fight every day. I've got both on rifles right now and the V4 never leaves the .300 WM the LHT got moved to a lighter 6.5. You'll sleep better with the Zeiss.

The Zeiss are great scopes, I had a conquest on my deer rifle for a couple years. My only complaint about the Zeiss was when it got to around 5 above the power ring would start to get stiff, and by the time it reached 30 below the power ring would not move. Sent it into Zeiss and explained the problem and when I got it back there was a note in the box that said they cleaned the power ring. Stuck the scope in the freezer over night and the next day took it out and power ring would not move. So I sold the scope.

The tracking issue is not as straight forward.. Most manufacturers have like a 1% tolerance like any other mechanical devices. If you dial 10 mils and you have 1% error how many mils are you off?

That's with big companies like ZCO, Nightforce etc. Yes. I haven seen them off too at max travel.

The LHT shares the razor name, but it's not nearly as good as the actual razor gen 3 in glass quality. It looks the same but not as good as the HD to be honest. And not as robust as the actual razor.

It also has a 6 mil rotation and a much cheaper feeling turret. The results of trying to make things lighter. Idk $600 msrp difference, and they are the same weight, but the HD seems better with similar if not the same glass..

That's interesting. I never gave a thought as to how my scopes would function at 30 below zero. 😁

What are you using now that doesn't exhibit a similar sticky/frozen power ring at extreme temperatures?

I have 2, 30 MM Vortex Vipers 6.5 x 24 Power ( Nice scopes ) , one on a 6 XC Long range Varmint / Steel, Plinker, Rifle and One on my 6.5 Creed, for, LR Steel, Fun,. BUT,..
FOR, "Serious Hunting" like, Elk,. Go with, the Zeiss,. IMO !
If, my Vortex Viper "Gives Out" on a Coyote or Local Deer Hunt,. I ain't gonna Cry, too much.
But IF,.. 1,000 miles away, in Northern Arizona,.. Huntin' Elk,..

Razor absolutely has better glass. The turrets are a little mushy but tolerable. Its my pick either way.

I used to live in colder places. There is huge difference in scopes at -30 and below. I liked to set a new scope outside for a night or two to get completely cold soaked and then try it.
I do suspect with a lot of things it's not the product itself that gets stiff but any greases or lubricants.
