Ok, my fiances father sent a barrel for an old ithica model 37 home with us the other day for my to polish and reblue and when i got home i noticed that when you lightly tap on the barrel the rib rattles. By looking at it it appears that the rib has a slotted dovetail that slips over the posts along the barrel but the breach end is solid so it looks like its one way on one way off. How exactly would you remove the vent rib if possible and is their any way for me to tighten it back up?
