Twist rate for Berger 215 300 PRC??

I would say 1-9 unless you plan to sling the 245's in the future. My 300 PRC is a 1-9 Brux and it shoots the 215 and 230 Bergers with exellent accuracy out to 1505 yards. Also shoots the 230 Atips pretty dang good as well. My 300 RUM loves the 215 Hybrids with a factory 1-10 twist. Cheers, and best of luck. Jason

No real world experience with the .215 but playing with the Berger calculator it seems that fps and altitude play a factor,1.95 tw was a minimum at sea level?

So the Berger Calc says you need 1.5sg, but in all honesty you probably won't see anything truly noticeable on paper till you get down to 1.3, a 1.4sg will not have enough difference than 1.5 to see anything on paper at hunting distances. 1k yard benchrest shooters try to keep SG around 1.6-1.8, if these guys knew that over stabilizing was the key to consistently best accuracy at 1k yards they'd be running excessive twist rates, trust me these guys collect more data at 1k yards than any of us hunters ever will. They shoot it on paper and electronic targets. A 10tw is plenty for a 215hyb, unless you're going to be shooting at sea level in freezing temps, at the most I'd run is a 9tw.

My 300 PRC has a 24" 9 twist and shoots 215 Hybrids amazingly. It's my most consistently accurate rifle. Seems 9 twist is best "all around".

Working on getting parts together for a 22" 300PRC and would like to shoot the Berger 215 hybrids. I'm thinking 1:8 twist. should be good right? The website says 1:10 or faster and the stability calculator says it's very stable with 1:8. Looking for real world experience with anyone shooting the Berger 215's out of a 1:8 and preferably a 300 PRC.
You will need 1-8

I'm running a 1/8 on my PRC and have shot 215's, 225's, 230's, and 250's . I'm glad I went 1/8 for the stability. Nothing wrong with going a faster twist as long as you have the right bullets . If you're going shorter I like a faster twist

215s, 225s and 230s in 1-9" 26" proof cf barrel. All shoot great.
215s shoot @ 2,975 mv, 78.6 grains H1000, ADG brass, 215m primer. .020" jump.
Sub half MOA out to almost 650 yards (as far as I've shot w this load). 5,500 ft elev.
25 ES INCLUDING COLD BORE… sometimes less

I tried 215 ELDX from My Tika 300 WSM with a 1/11 twist fell apart a 300+. My son shoots them from a Browing X bolt 300 Win mag with a 1/8.5 less than a 1/2" group for five at 200 yards consistently. and good groups out to 530 yards

Elevation and temp (ie density altitude) have significant bearing on stability. My worst case scenario: coastal (ie sea level) hunt in freezing temperatures.
