Trigger Suggestions?

Let me start this conversation with a confession of ignorance. I'm pretty deep in the weeds when it comes to reloading and the shooting side of things, but never get too much into the details of putting rifles together. I've just always shot them how they came.

This brings me to my problem, I know nothing about triggers! Here's the build...

BAT Model M single feed, right bolt, left port
36" x 1.25" straight taper Kreiger barrel (small truck axel) chambered in 338EDGE +P
Accuracy Solutions FAST chassis

This is just a fun gun, hopefully get me to the 2 mile mark? I'm hoping it comes somewhere in the 30 to 40# range, the heavier the better. All prone shooting off the ground or from the flatbed on my pickup.

So what trigger? I need pros/cons on single stage vs 2 stage? Brand doesn't matter to me, but would like opinions/reasons why one over another? It doesn't need a bolt release, but a little confused on what to do about the safety? Not an option on top of the action, so is there a bottom safety? Lastly, it needs to be pretty light. I dont know what I'm comfortable with as I've never run anything down very light, but I'm guessing somewhere down around 4oz?

We have the same Action with a Krieger 35" 1.35" Straight in .338LMAI and will be putting in several triggers to test:
Trigger Tech Diamond - single and Two Stage
Bix N Andy Tacsport Pro
Jewell
These are all good triggers! It will come down to what your like!

I have all Bix-Andy comp triggers in my Bat actions-

Don't need a safety, as the bolt isn't in the action anyways, unless firing…

BixN Andy Tac Sport Pro X will get you down to at least 3.5oz. It has become my favorite trigger.

The BixN Andy Barnard Comp will get to 1oz.

Triggertech Diamond Pro Curved is my second favorite. I have several in the 4-5oz range.

There is also the Flavio Fare Whisper. .8oz pull weight. I will have one some day just to see what that is actually like.

I have a trigger tech on a 7/300PRC that I REALLY LIKE! I just don't know what the advantage/disadvantage of a single vs two stage are?

Going into this style of shooting (heavy gun ELR) I'm assuming the lighter pull would be better??? Can you get too light?

Sorry won't be done for a while, need for medical procedures on both Jill and myself before we finish the builds. Will most likely start with the Jewel "C" Spring. Jewel supposedly went out of business and many stories, but you can still find Jewel HVR out there. I really like it in our .260.

If you can get a Jewel HVR (we have two) they come with three springs A (8-48 OZ), B (2-16 OZ ), AN C (1.5 to 43oz) These are GREAT Triggers and we will probably start with Jewel.

TT Dimond is (4-32 OZ) Two Stage is (4-20 oz) & (4-28 oz) Great Trigger - we have many!

Bix N Andy Comp 1.647 oz. Very good trigger also we only have two.
Bix N Andy Tac Sport Pro 3.527 oz to 35.27 oz

All the triggers listed are obviously great. I know you asked about 2-stage vs single also. I'll say that I'm not a fan of 2-stage triggers, I like the single stage where it's just clean break with an even pull. 2-stages obviously have some take up and then the wall followed by a break. There's a lot of guys that like 2-stages too, I've just come to the realization that they're not for me. If you haven't shot both that may be something that you'd need to do as I think there are plenty of advantages to each, so long as that's what you like/want.

I shoot both AR and bolt guns. I've always felt like a two stage was a little bit safer in the AR and in a bolt gun as well. I could be wrong. I have migrated to all two stage triggers but I likely don't shoot near as light pull weight as some guys here. My triggers are usually a pound on the 1st stage and 1 to 1.25 pounds on second stage. The two stage sort of helps me think about my process more as I'm taking up the slack or 1st stage. I like weight on the second stage to be just enough that I can sit on the wall if I need to. If I were shooting a heavy gun like yours for target and it was set in ounces I would likely go with single stage and just stay off of it completely until I was ready to fire. But I'm not that familiar with that type of shooting.
For my bolt guns I have either Geisslee super 700s or Triggertech. The Geisslee is a heck of a trigger and can be changed from single stage to 2 stage pretty easily based on shooter preference.
I have a Triggertech Special 2 stage in my custom build and really like it. One really nice thing about Triggertechs is they can be adjusted without removing the action from the stock with an Allen wrench.
