Topo Map for iphone

I have been looking at Topo apps for the iphone. I have read about the Topo Maps and Hunt App but have not seen them on a iphone.
Any input from users of these would be appreciated.

thanks

I have used both Topo Maps and iTopo Maps. Topo Maps is my go to. You won't be disappointed.

you wont be disappointed with the 'topo maps' app for the iPhone ive been using it for 3 or 4 years now and its the only reason I haven't switched back to a flip phone. also with the iPhone 4 and up you don't need cell service for it to show your location on the topo map as long as you have downloaded the map to the phone prior to leaving cell service.

You should look at the free app called ViewRanger GPS it has a green symbol, with a bike and hiker. That program on my smart phone is the best ! I have a Garmin vista gps and it stays home now because the ViewRanger is the ticket. You can pay 15 $ or so and get a map upgrade, but after that, you have satellite as well as topo maps of everywhere. Before you leave home to hunt an area, you can just download and save a section or map area of your hunt and then it will be on your phone. It uses Satellite to track you and does everything a good gps will do. I marked where I shot my elk last year and then found my way to camp in the dark. It keeps track of everything, elevation gain, distance and makes your track for you. All you need is a way to charge your phone on the Mtn. I have a charger that works for 4 full charges and it lasts me almost a week at a time. take a look, a friend turned me onto it and I am so glad to use it.

Now my phone does it all, my ballistics program (Strelok), GPs (viewranger), camera, and I can text and call home from some parts of the mountain I hunt. All in one unit.

HUNT by onXmaps for your iphone or android can be used on two devices (two phones, phone/tablet, or two tablets), shows land ownership name and boundaries, public lands, game units and you can switch between 13 different basemaps. You can create waypoints, make lines, share, and cache maps for use offline. Check out our app here: HUNT App for iPhone and iPad | HUNT by onXmaps
Let me know if you have any questions.

Great question, the answer is both, but to be able to use you app when you don't have cell coverage we have a "field mode" that turns off your phones functions except the GPS receiver. Here is a short video for using your app offline:

Let me know if this answers your questions or if you have anymore.

Thanks

I am going to Colorado where there is no cell service and property lines are crucial. Will the Colorado iPhone app do the same thing that your chip installed in a GPS will ?

Yes the app can do most things a GPS can (same landownership data). However, the GPS will be able to track your path and the chip can be used in your computer to scout on a much bigger screen using Garmin Basecamp (free download). The chip also offers campgrounds, boat launches, geographical features, etc.
The problem I have had with the app is that I don't think ahead of time. Here's an example: I plan to hunt an area that I will need cached map so, I cache my maps for that spot. I go about hunting that area and decide to move spots, try a different area that may be better suited to the conditions. Well I didn't plan on going to the other location and I didn't cache my maps before hand for the second area so now I don't have my map. I hope this makes sense, I prefer to use the chip in my GPS and use my phone app in addition.
I have added this link comparing our products as I hope this helps you understand the differences better: Overview

Thanks.

Spyglass gps app supports several maps types: apple maps, google maps, open street map, open cycle map and CalTopo. I use it all the time, pretty accurate. Allows to mark waypoints and spots (I mark stands) and share your current location with pals.
ScoutLook app is also cool
