Thoughts on shimming windage

Might just get me talked into those Burris mounts.

So if you are needed to offset the windage on the scope, I assume you just have to rotate the offset inserts of the rings in the direction you desire???

+4 I have them on every centerfire I own.

And yes, it's as simple as rotating the inserts one direction or the other.

Might just be the easy way to go. Hard to talk myself into the plastic though

Give me some good base recommendations. I don't know anything about these so I am leaning on you guys for recommendations

Its compressed by the steel rings.
It isnt going anywhere
Search it on the web and see how many benchrest guys are using them
 
What kind of bases? I really don't care for rails

1 piece base or rail is gonna be your best bet.
Not only are they more rigid and provide better alignment of rings, but it also spreads the error in mfg and assembly over the entire distance of the action instead of just over two tapped holes.

Angularly they tend to be more precise.
