Every so often I enjoy seeing some of the other night hunting videos and the Brits do some interesting stuff, often with cobbled together home made kit and sometimes with some really good stuff. I have found that I like the "Rhotting" (ratting) videos. I don't know why, but there is something interesting about watching those guys pick off rat after rat in barns or barnyards using NV and air rifles. Not finding any hogs, I stepped it up a notch.

So this should appeal to many folks. I know Grendel folks who are really into precision shooting. I know some who are into longer range shooting. Some just like to hunt. This has a little of everything...long range "ratting" as the Brits like to call it. Check out some of their vids on Youtube, AFTER you check out my video here...

That is the first mouse hunting video I've seen. I've thought of killing a few squirrels over the years, but never mice.

Seeing that was your first mouse kill with a rifle, did you get your trophy kill mounted? I'm sure your local taxidermist would love a challenge! :)

Man, scrmblr, I wanted a Euro mount, but I messed up the skull with a stupid head shot on the little bugger. I will have to wait and get a better specimen, the video and photographs being enough trophy for now. Besides, can you imagine the reconstruction costs for putting the little guy back together, given the missing front leg and missing lower rear leg? I couldn't even get a good shoulder mount!

Speaking of rat shooting...heres one for you: Some years back I was in central america sitting on a porch with some guys plinking with some suppressed 22's. I was getting bored and asked them if the town dump was close by and if so maybe we could go there and shoot some trophy rats for better entertainment. So off we went to a typical 3rd world dumping place out in the bush. We didnt see anyone around around so we started scanning the giant garbage piles. We saw a dozen rats or so and shot some. And then I moved so a new spot and while scanning a pile about 75 yards away I caught some movement out of the corner of my scope. And then I centered in on it and saw what I thought was a tiny little hand. Not a giant rat paw but a miniature human looking hand maybe 3 or 4 inces inches long. I said *** and about that time a lady came around from the other side of the pile dragging a big sack and went over to the hand and picked out a little baby human from the garbage!! She was collecting bottles and had set her baby in the garbage pile! She didnt know we were shooting as she couldnt hear anything.
Needless to say we decided that was enough of that and went back to the porch!
