The .257 -WHICH CARTRIDGE???

Jill had one in Winchester Model 70. Shot several animals in USA and Affrica. Had an issue with the barrel and sent back. It was at the time Browning bought out Winchester. Browning would not replace with another Model 70 and wanted to give us an "A" Bolt. Said NO. then they only gave us the price we paid minus the TAX & Shipping. We took the money and bought a Kimber Montana 270WSM. Ended giving away all the 25WSSM ammo, Brass, Bullets for free.
Now really want to build a 25 Cal. since we have a lot of Berger 133gr. Bullets. First time we are building a rifle around a Bullet. Going backwards, but we will see how it turns out.
Len, I've been picking what I want it for, what bullet I'm going to use for that & building around that bullet. It's been working out well. The 22 GT I built it around the 85.5 LRHT Berger, had a custom reamer built & I'm loving it.

A VERY quick Google seach shows both cases in that +/-68 area. Whether or not that is correct 🤷‍♂️

The PRC will always outrun the 284 case.
Just as the 06 case always outruns the 284 case
The fastest while having accuracy 17-18" barrel length 6.5-284 with 140's is 2784 fps (17" Brux barrel). My second fastest was also a 17" Krieger at 2750 fps

6.5 PRC: Just with factory ammo my 18" runs 2818 with 143's
With 140's with the same 18" barrel, I got into the lower 2900's

Len, I built 2 25 CMs. My barrels have not reached breaking in yet. I have lots of H4350 & just starting my velocities are not where I expected. I'm shooting 135s & 133s. Peterson brass in one & have Alpha in route for the other. I'll give you an update after barrels are broke in. A 22 GT I built is so much fun it's taking most of my time. Tell Ms Jill hello!
Lynn
thanks
Hope all is well with you and your family and will be looking for info on the 25 Creed. If I was going that route I would go with 25-08. Already have comp bushing dies for .260 and about 1k Labua Brass.
Orginally thinking of a build to sell in 25, but may just build two at the same time and keep one!
Just brought Ms Jill back from the DRs. She is doing well and says hey y'all!

"You are the Man" when it comes to rifle pistols. I am always amazed when I see a post from you!
Nice 25 PRC! Can you still get 131 BJs????

I apologize in advance but, I'm old school. Love the classic calibers. For mid cal stuff I run standard 25-06 with 26 in barrel, 3200 with Nosler 115 gr BTs will do anything I need for light gun stuff, just have to limit shots on whitetail to 450-500, for longer shots I grab my 300 win pushing 250 Atips.

What were your thoughts on the 25-284?
i built 2 25 CMs. A heavy comp & a light hunter, but havent broken in barrels yet.
Thanks
Lynn
What bullets are you shooting? Let me know if you are trying Berger Elite hunter 133gr. We can send you some.
Len
Semper Fi!!!
I don't think the black jacks are available yet. I've had these for a while
It is like the company took orders/payments and disappeared.

Thanks Len…….you're to kind. Before I built I bought a lot of 135s for target shooting + some 133s if I hunt with it. I'm going to keep up with what you do.
Thanks & God Bless!

We lost a lot of our savings in IRA and 401K since Jan 2022 as all of us did and needed more $$$ to finish the new Shop. On top of that the SCS in my neck spine didn't work. well just setbacks. We have 10 Barrels and five different calibers to chamber. Now purchasing the bulk .257 bullets put us into another fix. Need to purchase all the components for the bullet. Never did that before.
Just found out that the Neuro Surgeon is going to operate on my C-2 to C-7 to do some grinding on my spinal bones and implanting metal electronics. LAST OPTION for me so i hope it works even a little, Will then finish the shop, Start Chambering/Threading Barrels. Options to Cerakote - Engraving and maybe Flute Barrels.
HIGH HOPES TO GET ME body brain MOVING AND BEING USFULL. (can't wait)
Prayers that it all works out & the pain goes away.
God Bless, Lynn

Just crunched some numbers in Quickload, looks like the 25 stw will push 115 nosler BTs at 4000 fps from 28 inch barrel with RL33.

Looks like I'm gonna have to try it out, outta puff up coyotes really good from any angle, can't kill anything too quick.

Not concerned about barrel life or anything related, just need to find a reamer now.

What are your loads; powder? I'm breaking in 2 25 CMs
With a 26in barrel: Necking up small primer lapua 6cm brass. Hornady and Norma brass gave similar speeds and Peterson pressured sooner. With h4350 my load was about 2830fps. Somewhere near 40.5 grains. Nice stable load there. Just worked up loads with same components but with n555 because it is a tad slower burning and I had some extra case capacity. That load is going 2940fps. If you had RL26 that supposedly gives the best speed but my summer time shooting temps are regularly 95+F so I am relegated to temp stable powders.
