Tell Me About VV N540

Thanks for the reference links. I always like to compare to user reviews. I just started using VV powders for rifle. N135 is the best performer in Berger 200.20X 308 WIN 30" barrel, surprisingly. N140 has not impressed. Pressures out in all weight bullets before desired velocity obtained. Higher hopes for N540!

100 rounds loaded with N135 out of RCBS 1500 Chargemaster and only 1 pour that wasn't on the target charge. That's impressive to me for an extruded powder.

I use 3n37 in 4 of my pistols, but have 160, 165, 550, 555, 560, 565 and 570 also. With the 160 and 165 I don't think either will do well for the 3 or 4 cartridges that could possibly be used in. Like 8133 those 2 in the 100's are kinda for the rum family to fill? The case fills before enough velocity is sufficient (almost 200fps lower that other powders). VV150 would suit me better.

FYI, I just watched an interview with national FTR high level guy, Erik Cortina conducting interview on channel Believe the Target, and with that bullet in 308 I thought I heard him say he loads N150. Not sure if helpful to you or not. Surpriing you find 135 good and 140 not based on this.

FWIW, I have found that N165 is the most accurate powder in my 6.5x55 SE with 139 lapua scenarios @ 2800 fps.
