Not technically. But you can pour it on a paper towel and look for a rusty colored residue on the towel and look for clumps like it may have drawn some moisture. How old do you think it is? If its in a metal container is the container rusty? Does it still have a strong nitro glycerin smell? If it has no rust, no clumps and still smells like powder. Your probably good. But in my opinion if I have to question it. It becomes grass fertilizer. It would be cool to have a powder company or a lab test samples for us..

It will smell different when it first starts to go bad, before you see any deterioration. If it smells off at all don't use it. If it's been stored cool and dry and sealed it's probably fine, I have powder I still use that was made in the 80's, but if there is any doubt sprinkle it in your flower beds or garden. It will still be decent fertilizer.

Some can last! I still have a couple pounds of H 4831 left from a WW2 keg I'm still using. It seems as good as new.
