I am rebarreling my rem 700 with a new barrel, again chambered in the 280AI. All those who shoot it what are your loads you have had good luck with? Im NOT shooting rl22. Im sticking with the temp stable powders. Also gonna shoot the 160-168 grain bullets. possibly the 150 gr scirocco.
I would appreciate some direction on the new barrel with some loads. Its a 26" and its gonna be chambered in the nosler 280AI and im gonna use nosler 280AI brass.
Thanks.

Lots of good reviews of RL26 in the 280 Ackley. I've only just started load testing mine (the barrel is new). But so far so good. I've only seen one person do temp testing with it, and he reported 0.1 fps/deg.

IMR 7828ssc is also a staple for the 280Ack. H4831sc is also very consistent, but probably won't get you all of your speed potential.

Mine is a SAAMI 280 Ackley, 24" Pac Nor with an 1:8 twist. I'm using 168 grn Berger VLD Hunting, but the 1:8 twist also allows me to use the 168 grain Barns LRX (for the day when Oregon bans lead bullets ).

Anyway, good luck!

I just finished up a build on my "overhauled 280 rem"
Blueprinted m700, brux #5 stainless @ 26in + vias break (~27.5in)
in 280 AI.
She's right @ 2800 with 175 ABLRs... with NO testing other than stuffing it with a powder charge for break in, she did around 1.25in @ 200 yards.

My M48 Patriot in 280AI is a 24 in #3 pacnor, and the **** thing does 2880 with the same load...lol
With the 175 ABLR I was testing it @ 60 gr of I7977.... with a WLRM .. Im going to try RL33 or 26.
My goto load is 57.5 of RL17 with a 140 CT... in the Patriot she does 3250 in cold, almost 3300 in hot weather.

Rl17,19,22 would be my goto choice for 140-150 grain bullets in this chambering.
Don't know why you'd shy away from it... I've never seen the dreaded temp instability cause an issue....
