Sizing 6mm ARC

Anyone had this happen?
starline brass, after the first firing. cleaned and then resized, 20 of 70ish cases wont fit in the hornady gauge.
i have tried a Hornady FL sizer AND a RCBS small base sizer.
brass is being shot out of a AR

I had a similar problem with resizing 6 ARC. I had to use an RCBS press with the RCBS small base dies to get them to resize properly. I think my Lee press worked if I used the Hornady FL dies, maybe... but definitely the RCBS dies preferred the RCBS press with the cam-over action

Measure at the base of a case, right about where it doesn't fit into the gauge. Compare one that fits and one that doesn't. Are they the same? You might adjust how far your die is seated into the press by 1/8 of a turn up and/or down to get the sizing fine tuned. Maybe someone more experienced has more info to share?

Is the case in the gauge pictured before or after it went through the sizing die?

looks fine. only deformity after fire is the necks get dented

i tried going in more, ill try less. thing is, the other 50 pieces went through the same process fine. only a handful are not gauge worthy. i rechecked all my brass in the gauge tonight

I have had issues with the Hornady dies and they would not provide a consistent shoulder, regardless of prep and process on two different presses. I have now switched to the Whidden die for both gas and bolt gun in 6 ARC and all my issuses went away.

Measure a new case and one of the cases that wont fit and see what the difference is. That area would likely be the web area which makes me wonder if the load is too hot. What is the load you are using?
