Short barrel muzzleloader

Any follow up on this? I was just considering a "carbine" smokeless build myself my "long range" build is just a little cumbersome in the woods. I was thinking 18" with a break

275gr at 2340 fps kills'em dead.

I'm getting 2,700 fps with 70grs Imr 4198 with a sized 300 grain hornady sst ml bullet 28" barrel including muzzle break.

What kind of accuracy you getting? What ranges?

I understand going to give up some performance for maneuverability ie shorter barrel

Initial accuracy tests were sub MOA but I haven't sat down and put a bunch of round through it to establish a baseline as it isn't on a dedicated rifle. I bought it as a barrel and put it on whatever random rifle I feel like for a few weeks for our inline doe season then it goes back in the safe till next year. Usually shoot one shot to get on paper at 25, a second shot to zero at 100 then the rest of my shots are either shooting deer or unloading for the season.

Range would be roughly 300 yards or so, these bullets seem pretty fragile so I imagine 1600 fps would be a cut off for expansion but all of my deer have been killed at 150 or less. That being said it does ring the 350 yard gong just fine the few times I reached out with it.

I'm running a 17" barrel suppressed with a 275 grain bullet, 4227 with a large rifle primers and DI modules. Build by Hankins Custom Rifles. Bullets running 2,450 fps.

What suppressor are you using? I was thinking about getting a hybrid 46 not necessarily for this but could be fun

Second on the Hybrid 46, mine is one of the originals from 2016 so I'm not sure how much different the newer ones are.

Thanks everyone, bought a stainless 700 ml as a donor last night going with arrow head 209 ignition to stay away from modules. Havnt decided on barrel brand or contour thinking 18".

Why 209 ignition system over using large magnum rifle primers in models?

I already have one with the 209 ignition system and it works just fine. No module to wear out or drop in the field. Just my opinion I'm sure the others are fine choices as well
