Helping a new LR shooter set up his first rig. He has a Tikka T3 AI in 6.5 cm. Goal is to plink 300-1200 yards. Budget is $1500-$2000. MOA. Thinking FFP but not crucial. Suggestions greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Chris

For a long range plinker fun gun or even a long range competitive gun you can get excellent performance for less than a grand. I have a couple Arken scopes which I really like (EP5 and SH4). These are hot sellers and back ordered 5-6 weeks. You tubers Texas plinker and TiborasaurusRex both have reviews and discount codes. I also have a Bushnell FFP Match Pro on a Long Range 22LR, but Athlon, Primary Arms, and Vortex have good low cost options as well. I'm also shooting the Burris XTR III FFP on my PRS gun. It costs more but is inside your budget.

I'd look at Nightforce or Trijicon. Several reliable scopes from either that would work well.

Thanks everyone, good options to share with him!

If just target, FFP is ok, but for a hunting and target gun, I prefer second focal plane, and Night Force all the way, NXS, NX8 or ATACR.

You don't NEED FFP.
It's entirely up to you.

For your distances and budget, you might want to look at Sightron.
Maybe a used SIII 8-32X56, or a 10-50X60.

I bought a used SIII 10-50X60 for $750.

Put the leftover money towards ammo.

In that price range I've been really happy with my NX8's. I've also been very impressed with the Bushnell LRHS2. Lots of scope for under $1000
