Anyone use the Trijicon Credo hx 4-16x50? Thinking of trying one but concerned about reticles. It has the red MOA center dot. I hunt long shooting lanes in the woods and open clear cut. Just wondering how well it works and how well at last light.

Have you looked into the Arken line of scopes?

I just bought one and set it up on my self built 6.5-06. Definitely one of the best scopes I've used!

I don't own one, but I know on Rockslide the feedback is all around positive on them. I recently went back and forth on a Credo or a Maven but went with the Maven (due to finding a deal on a used one). The maven is another good option at the same price point.

I have owned a lot of Trijicon scopes, several ACOGs, Acupoints and now have a Huron on my 270. I got rid of the Acupoint when they stoped recharging the tritium. The optic will lose its glow in about 15 years. They are high quality. The ACOGs are basically indestructible. All that said I would not buy one for the things we talk about here. I believe you can do better for your money. The older models did not have a lot of internal adjustment. I have no hands on experience with any of there newer higher end models. Arken seems to have a lot of people talking and the price is fantastic. I am of the mindset your optic should cost more than your file if you are serious about this.

I would check out Sightron SIII PLR series and select your reticle, to my eyes very bright at low light conditions. Wish I could comment on the Trijicon but I have no experience with it other than military use with ACOGS.

I have the Accupoint 4-16X50(1 of 6 Trijicon's) and it's a fantastic scope. I don't know much about Arken but what I have seen online. I don't like any of their reticles for hunting, and I would be very surprised if the low light capabilities could rival Trijicon. How long do estimate your longest shot being?

I have one I like it. It's probably got 1500 rounds of 300 WinMag on it. It held up just fine dials returns to zero. I don't try to intentionally abuse it and break it but in the normal realm of usage has zero failures no complaints, decent in low light. Do I have other scopes yes But in this particular application, the scope works real well. I would buy another one if I needed it..

I have this scope but with the exposed turrets for dialing, its definitely solid and tracks like it should. Low light however is where it falls on its face, same with bright sunny conditions. The glass works but don't expect it to be useful at last light.

For about the same price, I have 5 Vortex Razor LHT's on my main hunting rifles and they do everything very well. Great glass, illumination, mag range, mil reticle, warranty (never needed it), weight, and all have tracked 100%.

I have several of the Accupoints and love them.

If you want the best low light scope, look at the 2.5-10x56. It will give you a couple extra minutes if you're in the woods without too much ambient light. I hunt in SC every year where shooting times are one hour before/after. It helps there for sure.

The 50mm objectives are really close and if you need the magnification, you wont be losing much.

I just got a Swaro z5 yesterday from an LRH member and did an A/B with an Accupoint 4-24x50
I could not see ANY difference in the glass quality, but the Trij had a wider field of view.

You cant really go wrong with the Trij scopes, IMO

i've had many illuminated scopes, but have never once turned them on during hunting. My opinion is if you need an illuminated retical hunting should be over for the day.

I'm pretty sure none of my SFP scopes even have batteries in them but for me illuminated is a must with FFP for the first and last few minutes.

That's a great point I didn't even consider.
Mine are all SFP but yes if I had FFP I'd need them illuminated as I can't see them on minimum power.

I have a Credo 2.5-15x42 and think it's a great hunting scope. I wish only the center dot illuminated instead of the entire reticle, but the illumination can be turned down enough that it's not an issue. I've never had a problem with low light performance either. This scope is hard to beat in the $1000 range, especially if you want a "tough", reliable optic.
