You can call it Greed, or whatever you want. If you are unprepared and don't stay stocked up on your reloading / shooting supplies, then only You are to blame.
Unless you are one of the "New to owning / shooting firearm's crowd", you've had YEARS to prepare and get plenty of reloading supplies stocked up for any shortage that has come along in the last 10 - 20 years.

If you are desperate for something, you will either pay what the going rate is, or do without it.

Hilarious. Love this. All of a sudden free markets are a bad thing? I guess only when it impacts you personally. Trump would support this. It's just business.

There's nothing wrong with "free markets" until that free markets takes advantage of the consumer/s!! We "used" to purchase boxes of bullets at a 100 count per box, now the prices have remained or increased to a slightly higher price. Pistol ammunition used to be 50 in a box, that too has changed to the same price or slightly more for 20 or 25. 22s and 9mms, if you can find them, have quadrupled in price. I am curious about just how much of a shortage there is, or if there just isn't a "manufacturers" made shortage. Last night I tried to purchase some 44 magnum brass, every where I looked I found "out of stock". A couple of sights showed that they had the brass; however, that was just a gimmick to get you to sign up for an account with them so they had your information; the site didn't have the brass. I did find some Winchester brass, prefer Starline over Winchester. On all of the sites Starline was "out of stock", so I decided to go to Starline's site. Yup they had the 44 magnum brass, but......you had to buy a quantity of 500. Out of stock on all of the sites, but.....all you wanted in quantities of 500 and 1000. Free market is one thing, but ripping people off is another, and.....we're getting ripped off!!!!!!!! And.....that's BS!!

lol untag from this garbage

The Last few ammo crisis situations, People who wasn't at work for whatever reason would wait at the big chain stores for 22lr ammo and buy all they could when it was delivered in the mornings. And they would go from store to store doing this several days per week for weeks on. Then would go to flea markets & gun shows and resale a $9 100 pack of 22LR for $20-$25. It is what it is. I'm not going to debate whether this the right thing to do or not. Today's culture is a self focused culture. Most everyone is focused on their own well being, how much they can accumulate, and how easy they can make their own life. So this works out in times of plenty. Just Remember this: when food gets short and people are starving, the worst nature of people will come out. This little matter of overpriced ammo & components will seem very small compared to what will be happening at that time. I'm a firm believer in capitalism. I believe in loving your neighbor also.

We are discussing it, even if convoluted and we need to clarify what we are writing. That doesn't happen in russia, china, nk and other countries. As uncomfortable as it appears, it is just a discussion and I've learned a few things.
I think you got me wrong. No problem with a discussion. What I meant was that I cant understand how a candidate can run openly on socialism and gun control and have a chance of winning. Even 10 years ago the Dem party would never have openly said they were going to ban any type of firearm while running for office. Now its a main goal. I am amazed that any hunter/gun owner could support those ideas, until reading this thread.

I told everybody I knew to stock up on reloading components this spring. Kept preaching that all through summer... I typically buy what I need and ideally plan to have enough to shoot out the rest of my year. In normal market times. When things are readily available, I don't stash too much ahead.

Currently I'm over what I'd normally have, and components are hard to come by. Am I going to re-sell at three times what I paid? Honestly, I don't know. I might. But if I do, I may not have the components that I need without a lot of travel, or paying higher prices than I like.

If I DO sell at higher than my cost, I don't really see that as a bad thing, to be honest. I bought when supply exceeded demand (and told everyone else to). I'm not snapping everything up that I can now that supply is currently low, and then selling high.

As some have pointed out, this is cyclic, but has been made worse than a typical election year by the virus and riots, etc.

I guess I fall on the side of those who say that if you've been in this game for any length of time, you should be prepared. If you are just getting into it, I do have some sympathy for you.

I read the thread but still honestly can't understand how this crowd could support it.

A manufacturer-induced fake shortage is not really a possibility. You would be asking them to forego sales today to create artificially low supply, so they could then take advantage of that low supply later. That is a market with many players...which means it would basically be a cartel making supply decisions to create this, and if anyone cheats for their own good, it starts to crumble a bit. And the manufacturers aren't selling at jacked prices (they are selling at MSRP it seems) and the middlemen are the ones jacking the prices and making the money.

The vast majority don't but it blows my mind any gun owner could support that party. And this is America, If a guy can sell at a huge profit good for him (even though he started the bid at $0.01). What do we want the government setting powder prices now? Nuts!

You have a great outlook; however, tell that to the people who ran out of toilet paper, who would have known we'd run out of toilet paper, hand sanitizer, wipes, paper towels, latex gloves!!!!!!!! And.....in Maine there was all the toilet paper that I diarrhea ward used in a 10 year period, so.................where did the shortage come from????? The shortage came from capitalism at its finest!!

The people who
Any of us that have been around this for awhile knew what was coming and should have been thinking ahead. I am not a hoarder or a prepper but I am darn sure prepared. You can blame the pandemic or riots but we all knew it was an election year
I agree. If a fellow found a good load with H1000 or whatever, he should have went ahead and got on a waiting list for an 8lb jug.

It doesn't matter the product, except for perishable goods, if you do not have several years supply.....you are not thinking about the future of your loved ones. Our several years supply would not last very long, with only consumers and no producers! Hopefully when "it" happens, our family can be an asset not a detriment.....though I predict the latter! If the latter, it will guarantee very difficult times ahead, for all of us! We have all become accustomed to the luxury of excess supply. Most of us have never truly "wanted" for anything. Many of those experiencing the Depression, would never allow themselves to be completely helpless in times of hardship. Jus say'n! memtb
