Savage Big Bore

I know that this question is a little out of range for this forum, but I am curious.

Why can't a Savage 1899 be converted to .444 Marlin

You would have to pick a gun with a similar size cartridge for it to feed from the rotary magazine properly, and for it to extract, 30 30 and possibly 303 Savage would work.
