I just got my savage 12 flv 22-250 (tupperware stock). I used my Hornady COAL guage to see how much freebore it had and if I could seat off of the lands. 55 g Sierra Blitzking sat right on top of the case before it touched the lands (it isn't possible to seat the bullet just off the lands in otherwords).

I am asking you experts if this is normal for the savage rifle or is that something that is different on many of the savages? I just kinda broke the barrel in as best as my patience would allow this weekend and I didn't get a chance to really shoot for groups yet.

Savage freebore

My SAAMI spec 22-250 reamer has enough freebore to prevent seating 55 gr, and lighter, bullets out to the lands. My 22-250 match reamer will allow me to seat 52 gr. bullets "jammed" into the lands.
