Hey everyone.. just looking for a little more help on reloading the wife's new gun.. I can get 4 out of 5 touching but there is all ways one flyer.. any one have any ideas why this is happening.. I will try to post pics of targets with all load data Resized_20191023_164633.jpg Resized_20191023_164800.jpg Resized_20191023_170007.jpg

Thin barrel + not a great stock = fliers. I have a few loads worked up for my old mans 7-08, same rifle. With the factory stock, it would throw fliers with a 5 shot group. Bedded it in a Boyds stock and now have a few really good loads worked up for 140 class bullets (Nosler BT, Etip and VLD I believe).
Do you have a particular bullet or powder you're wanting to work with other than BG and the TTSX? I can post the loads later tonight when I get home for reference.

Thanks for the response.. I just finished a ton of testing on this gun.. tryed .W760,H414,Big game,Varget,H4350..
Tryed each powder with the 140g ELD-x, 140g Serra game kings, 140g TSX, 150g TTSX, 140g Accubounds

Is the flyer consistent, as in first round or last round, or at random ?How many total rounds down the barrel ?

Any information and help would be much appreciated.. thank u
Doing this on my phone so apologies if this doesn't show correctly.
For reference, these are the loads we settled on with the priority being accuracy out to 400 yards vs top speed or distances beyond that. All 140 grain bullets, all slow 5 shot groups, all done after it was bedded in new stock and installed MCarbo spring kit. Bear in mind the scope he uses is less than stellar (cheap 4-16 bushnell if I recall) so there is room for improvement in the group's beyond 100.

IMR 4451, 44.5 grains, 2.260" BTO, F210M primers on all of these, Winchester brass = 2600fps and 3.2" group at 400yds

IMR 4350, 45 grains, 2.260" BTO, Starline brass = 2590fps, .260" group at 100yds

Big Game, 45.5 grains, 2.258" BTO (Etip), Starline = 2,700fps, 1.8" group at 250 yards

Varget, 41 grains, 2.265" BTO, Starline = 2725fps, .366" at 100yds

I would load up the 44 BG load and the 39.5 Varget load shoot your test again with 3 shot groups and let your barrel cool down between shooting groups. The unknowns at this point with both groups shot #2 being the culprit did the round have time to heat up in the barrel, hows your shooting form, any chrono data ? The game of reloading is just eliminating variables, one group of 5 dosent tell the a whole lot other than to persue or abandon.

All shots where recorded with labradar.. just trying to line up all the information to post for better shot reference.. every shot the barrel was cooled down to ambient temperature +5 C to ÷15 C . As the day warmed up . The gun was shot with the " model 1000PL rifle rest"

Welcome to the forum! Lots of good info a d help around here.

Is the "flyer" shot always the same direction outside the group?
