RH to LH

I usually find any info I need on this site without having to post any questions but I have not been able to find this one.

What kind of material would I use to fill in the RH side bolt cut out when converting a stock to LH. If I try this on a higher end stock I dont want to have to worry about cracking

A good bedding compound like marine tex and devcon should do the trick.

I've done it a couple of times and I drill a few holes in the sides of the bolt slot and put a few finish nails in crisscross pattern and slide a piece of screen door material in there for a matrix. I use bedding compound or JB weld that has been allowed to thicken up for a while before applying. After it has hardened, sand down to match the shape of the stock and repaint. Looks good as new and is plenty strong.
