I turned that same vintage action into my first custom. Looking back, I bought it off of gunbroker just for the action and should have left it original.

They were much more nicely built back then.

I kept the action, bottom metal and trigger. Neil Jones worked the old walker to a perfectly crisp 2 pounds.

I then sold the stock for half of what I had in the rifle.

Very nice classic! I always liked the earlier stocks where little or no stain was used and it let the color variation show thru - GLWS!

That is a Classic 700... My late Uncle had one of the first 700's in 7mm Rem Mag in the early 60's. Great rifles! DD62
