I have a buddy who has a remington model 721 in 270. His gun was his grandfather's and it was discontinued in the 60's so he can't find a new stock for it. His stock is fine but he wants a synthetic stock. He can't decide whether to get work done to his gun or just buy a new one. If he gets a new gun he wants a 30-06. He only plans to go whitetail hunting with it. He doesn't need it to shoot a plate at 1000 yds, he just wants a good gun to shoot deer with. He doesnt want to spend a ton of money but wants a good gun. What should he do, get a new 30-06 or fix up his 270?

A model 700 long action stock will fit(bottom metal also). He could use an ADL stock, a BDL stock and buy the BDL bottom metal, or inlet a little and use the stock bottom metal on a BDL stock. If it has the lump on the barrel at the rear sight he'll need to do a little work to make that fit also.
