I have just pick up a Weatherby markv outfitter in 300 wby mag

Rt now I'm looking at 180 grain bullet what powder would we recommend to
Start with. I'm still a new to reloading. I've reloaded 7prc 308 6.5-284 and have learned with each caliber

I have been looking for some imr 7828 scc but nobody has any

I've had great results accuracy wise with H4831 SSC using Barnes 180 TTSX in my Mk V Hunter.
I haven't crono'd yet, but accuracy is great, and it's fairly available.

When I had my 300wby. I ran H4350 and nosler 180 accu bond. It shot well for me.

Just bought a 8 lbs jug for $209 ya on American reloading great powder but don't like to trickle ball powder for me , magpro is a good one too

That depends on the bullet brand. If it's Berger, contact their tech support, who'll gladly send you recommendations. As with anything else, YMMV, but you can use it as your baseline load development.

I've been shooting the .300 Weatherby Magnum for decades. It's still one of my favorite cartridges and rifles for hunting.

H-1000 is the tried and true powder of choice with the 180 grain bullets, Woodleigh 180 gr. Protected Point and others. I switched to Re-25 a few years back and use that mostly. 26 inch barrels, #3 or #4 Bartleins with a brake or suppressor now.

My Load; 180gr. Hornady BTSP, 82 gr. H4831, MFPS 3179, ME 4039 FPS @ 100-2947, ME @ 100 3471, sub MOA Started using H4831 because I was out of H1000. After I got some H1000 I still liked the 4831 better. This is out of a Weatherby Accumark Mark V with a 26" Krieger fluted barrel, all factory.

R19 was the best for me with 180 Hornady Interbonds and Nosler Accubonds. I've used 7828, 4831, n560 and all shot well. When I started loading for 300 bee H1000 was not around, and Grand maybe worth a try. If I was just starting to load for 300 I would pick a temp. stable powder and work from there. Loads with R19 and 7828 developed here in Va and used mostly in Co did not work well in hot weather in Texas.

You are correct. I know several people that load the 300's with reloader 17, 19 and 25 but most have started moving away from Alliant since they have stopped making powder.

Did you say you bought 7828 SSC yesterday? American Reloading is not even showing that powder (well the Midwest Powder equivalent) as out of stock.

Does anyone else have experience shooting "Midwest Powders"?

And sorry for hijacking the thread. My Mark V likes Reloader 22 but I can't find it, so I've been waiting for 7828 to hit the shelves.
