Recoil Lug

I am putting a new barrel on my savage lrh my question is the new recoil lug is thicker than the old one and wider it will not fit in the lug channel. Taking off factory barrel putting on a savage bull 1.06 at the breech and 1.00 at muzzle.
First one I am going to do myself any suggestions would be helpful.

Take a dremel tool with a sander bit and open up the lug channel ever so slightly. Then see if it will fit. Continue till it drops right in and fits snug with little wiggle room. If you overbore the channel too much, you will want to bed the lug with devcon to be sure it seats snugly when you tighten down your action screws so the action is secure and doesn't move during recoil when shooting.
