Rechambering savage 17 hmr to 17 wsm

I have a Savage 17 HMR and I am curious if this rifle can be rechambered to a 17 WSM?

The 17 WSM runs at quite a bit higher pressures than does the HMR and since Savage didn't use the existing 17 HMR action for their 17 WSM, I'd say it would probably be a bad idea. Also, the 17 WSM is a fair bit larger than is the HMR so at the least you'd have to single feed them, not that single feeding is that big a deal, but I still wouldn't attempt it.

In all honesty, even if you could, by the time you paid someone to rechamber it for you, you could have added a little more money and just bought yourself a 17 WSM.

No. It needs its own action. Sell the HMR and get the WSM
