I have a a .338-.378 Weatherby Tacmark Elite with a 30" tube, I'd like a heavier contour. There seems to be plenty of free floating room within the stock. Is it possible to increase the contour without modifying the inside or betting of the stock?

The other is an old AccuMark Mark V that was re-barreled and restocked Into a TRR.

I would like to convert that one to a 30-378 weatherby Since it seems to be the only available ammo one can purchase at the moment.

Any thoughts?

Both are range certified.

The 30 inch tube has an average group size of .17 inches in a mean radius of .06 inches.

The 26 inch tube has an average group size of .33 inches in a mean radius of .13 inches.

They both shoot ridiculously wonderful but I am concerned with excessive Barrel harmonic vibrations, especially with my 30 inch tube. If the groups stated on the range certified documents are both smaller than the diameter of the bullet should I even be concerned, In other words do I even need to go up in contour? ?

If I do with the contour fit the stocks

If you can come close to duplicating those groups, I would not touch either barrel. Components are popping up here and there, so if you don't reload, there are companies that will load custom ammo for you.

I am lost to the question.
Why is there a need to go to a heavier contour?
Harmonics are in every barrel, true that a heavier contour will slow the whip, but it doesn't stop it dead.
A barrel tuner will do everything you ask on a skinny barrel given the right load.
If the barrels shoot that well, why fix what ain't broke?

Cheers.

What is the furthest you have shot it?
1761 yards as of last week! I just had to add the extra yard, LMAO! I've been hand loading 256 grain Flatlines w/115 grains of Retumbo.

Avg Velocity :3300 FPS
ES: 6 (5 shot group)
SD: 4

My 1000 yard groups were averaging .5 MOA.

I definitely need to upgrade my optics to a Nightforce ATACR or maybe the new Gen 3 Razor.

I'm can honestly say that I am very glad I did not mess with the barrel now.
