Does anyone know if the 416 Ruger is listed in quickload software program. I have found some limited reloading date for the Barnes 300 grain bullet. I am considering using either the GS Custom HP047 300 grain bullet or Perigrine and would like to find several powders for testing.

It appears that it does.

Thank you AD5GB for the response. That is what I was looking for. I have found on Accurate shooter a list of bullets contained in Quickload and several that I want to try are listed.

Do you have Quickload? And if you do, has it been helpful? I looked around and it is pretty expensive at $150 - that is why I was looking to see if the Ruger was listed.

Thanks again

Hi Robert,

I yes I do have QuickLoad but haven't had it long enough to form a strong opinion of it. I mean I like it. Some of the newer powders (like the IMR Enduron line) are not in it yet but it's got quite a comprehensive bullet selection. I've found some loadings to come out almost spot on and others, well, not so much. I'm still learning about the tool though but for me it was worth the investment.

Best!

Since you are relatively new to Quickload it may not be possible to answer but do you choose the powder, or for example, if you limit the case to 95% capacity will it select those based on the contained specs for the cartridge. I have read that the 416 Taylor has similar capacity as the Ruger and there are several databases for loads for a variety of 300 grain bullets. Does Quckload allow for comparisons?

I'm not in front of the software present, but it has several modes that I've found. You can select a single powder and it will produce a load chart for it but it does have a mode where you can set limiting parameters such as case fill %, velocity, pressure etc and it will produce a list of powders that meet search criteria. Pretty neat actually. I was fascinated to see how changing seating depth and case capacity affects pressure and velocity.

I've not found a way to compare 2 or more loads side by side, but then I haven't gone looking for it yet. I've only had it since last Friday LOL. There's way more to this than I've discovered yet to be sure.

Many many thanks

Quickload is worth every dollar. Makes finding compatible components very easy. I purchased Quickload to help me with wildcat loads and it has not disappointed.

Thanks for your reply. I will more than likely invest given what has been said on this forum and from looking at some screen shots that I found through searches. And especially after ordering the Hornady manual who was the major developer of the Ruger and only one bullet weight (400 grain) was listed. The Lyman cast manual has data for the Ruger which I usually use to fireform cases or to obtain once fired brass but the regular manual does not.

If you haven't get QuickDesign. The pair will let you go hog wild on wildcats.
