Could some one run this on quickload for me and tell me the max velocity i can get while in safe working pressures.

284 Win
1:8.5 twist barrel
24"
Lapua 6.5x284 brass necked up if it matters
COAL 3.33 (which is touching lands)
195 grain Berger (bearing surface is about .535)
H4831 powder

Also, please run 180 grain Berger (bearing surface about .490)
COAL of 3.244 (about .1 off lands)

I am trying to find out if the 195 or the 180 grainer will give me the best ballistics.

i did a little goooogling and i think i can get about 2650 fps from the 195 and about 2725 with the 180. Does this sound about right? At these velocities the 195 whoops butt in wind drift.

Riley,

Look around here if you haven't already. There should be a TON of loads for the 284 & 180...

Thanks for the links! I think i will be able to get about 2700 fps from the 180 because of my LONG throat. Just to give you an idea, the 195 grain bergers boattail/shank junction will be just above the shoulder/neck junction of the case. Do any of you know of a side discharge brake that can be turned on or off?
