I was wondering what process you guys use to true up Savage actions? I meen I figure that the reciever is the same as a Rem 700 but does the bolt get the same attention as the Rem 700's
I my mind it would be easier to do a Savage over a Rem just because of the floating bolt. I'm thinking that all that is required is that lugs be squared to the bolt face being that the head floats. , what I haven't figued out is how the hell you would hold the bolt head out of the bolt?

JD, true the face of the receiver, square the nut. install a .250" thick recoil lug, cut the ramp on the locking lugs.
True the face of the floating bolt and clean up the internal parts of the bolt. test and dry fire if the bolt jumps you will need to recut the cocking ramp.
there are a few other little things that can be done.
