I'll try and keep this short and was going to wait until this is finally resolved but I need to vent. I purchased a used Thermion 2 LRF XG50 from a guy on SH last August 2024, got that and an Axion 2 XQ35 Pro scanner for about 1K less than the scope new. Figured good deal, guy had a great trade history and over 4 years left on warranty. Got scope, everything looked great, sighted it in worked perfectly. Maybe sent 40 rounds with it off AR and basically put it away for a few months until after deer hunting. Pulled it out to verify LRF and screen started going black after recoil from shot, usually come back on after couple seconds but sometimes needed restart. Contacted seller and he said never had that issue but only used it a couple times, I believe him seemed like upstanding guy.
Contacted Pulsar had to go through process to send back on my dime, insured. They received mid Jan, took about 6 weeks for them to repair and send back - fine, but there goes a yote breeding season. Sighted in, hunted a few times with it, all good, maybe 20 rounds. Didn't use until after 2025 deer hunting again (my bad, should have put it through the ringer...), anyway same thing when verifying zero, went black. Sent back in to Pulsar, this time much quicker turn time, just over a week but said unit not repairable so sending me new unit and upgraded to LFR XG60 since 50 was discontinued.
Now were getting somewhere! New unit and upgraded!!! Mounted scope, took a couple shots and I think 3rd shot when sighting in, black screen.... Now beginning to question my sanity and if I'm meant to shoot coyotes after dark... Send back to Pulsar for 3rd time, again good spin time and they deemed not repairable, so sending new unit. Ok, that's what I was hoping for.
Got new scope mounted loose in QR mount held up to adjust eye relief and hit power button,,,,,,,,,,, nothing! Wound not turn on, changed batteries, left on charger longer, pushed button harder, longer, nothing but black this time. Contacted Pulsar and they gave all these things to try, like I don't know how to turn on the unit... Also recommended seeing if there was an update for it, for the life of me don't know how to do that with a unit that won't turn on. All of a sudden the quick response that I was getting from Pulsar, went to a slow roll like I did something wrong. What was a day in response time was now 2-3.
Finally got approval 2 weeks ago to send back in for 4th time and low and behold while I'm typing this I get email from Pulsar that unit is not repairable and sending new scope. I wish I had faith that I'm going to be able to use it to kill some yotes but I really see very little reason to think that.
The only bonus to all of this is that they started paying shipping both ways on 3rd return and they request that only the scope be sent back without batteries, mount, etc. So, when they send a new unit it includes new QR, 2 batteries, charger, eye piece, remote, etc. So now I have plenty components anyway.
This isn't meant to bash Pulsar and I know they for the most part have a good rep and stuff happens but Iike I said, needed to vent and figured something that people should know.
