Proud new owner S&w 625 45 colt

Show off a little 6.5" pre-lock factory ported and looking for medium level 45 colt load that doesn't exceed 23,000psi. I loaded up 20 grain of imr4227 magnum primers behind a 250 grain jacketed bullet and end up with un-burnt powder falling out of the cylinders. Best powders for the old 45 colt?

I used H110 when I shot 45 LC rounds in my 5" 460 S&W. I don't recall seeing much unburned powder.

10 Grains of CFE Pistol give Ya 1.000 fps with a 250gr slug, safe enuff even for old single actions. Accurate #5 or #7 work well too, for mild stuff with a 250gr.

The 625 from what I hear cannot handle full house 45 colt loads. I don't want to exceed 45 acp+p levels. H110 is my go to in the 44 magnum I have

Yep 12.9gr of Blue Dot, gets a 250gr lead slug right around a 1,000 fps too. Good Luck.

I forgot how thin the cylinder walls were on the 25-5 I used to have. I suspect you are correct.

I use 8.0 grains of Accurate #5 . With a 452424 Lyman cast bullet. If I remember correctly, I'm around 950 from my 4 5/8 Ruger.
