Proof PXT testing with Alex Wheeler

Mine didn't even make it that long. I shot my lands out over .100 in 400 rounds. It would still shoot, just stupid slow and needed a ton of powder to maintain speed
Proof barrels?
I never shoot over 2 in a string
Also never had to shoot a animal more than once

I've had proof, Brux and kreiger in 7-300 NMI. They all burn about the same. But I do 5 shot groups. I shot an NRL with one just to see how well I could do and shot it out .080 in 100 rounds

I competed with a 30/338 Lapua improved 1 time.
Fun while it lasted
Jewel trigger failed from the dust at the firing line at the 4th stage

If may be a bit, here is what Frank Green said.
"Will see where it all goes. It'll take a bit but working on gathering data."

This is not the original post I was referring to but the same jest. This is a long way from a finished product. That said I don't know how long it will take, I am sure there is a lot to figure out, engineering, manufacturing/tooling, specialty equipment, not to mention patent infringements.
Bartlein didn't even want to sell me another 1\2" gain barrel. Now they're considering this? 🤨

What is a 27 stalker
Unless @Hugger-4641 is referring to a different Stalker, it is one of Kirby Allen's (@Fiftydriver) wildcat line chamberings.

Not really. I didn't argue much either and just settled on what the sales guy recommended.
They do have an up charge "Bartlein" and they do not push gain twist. I have gain twists from bartlien. I have benchmark barrels earmarked for future use that are gain twist cut rifle and no up charge for the gain twists. These barrels even though they are gain/progressive twist are not even comparable to the PXT tech. the intended use and sought improvement is not even related.

It would be nice to see Alex do a benchrest rifle with one to see if the claims are what they are for accuracy, going to be hard to shoot smaller than what they shoot now but at least there would be measured targets over aggs. Unless their comparing accuracy just to their own barrels then I get the claim, that's a low bar!!

Well the hype is off the chart on this one, so Proof has done their job. Where there's an itch there's a niche. Scratch away folks!

If the hype is backed up by results, it's not hype. I'm a little skeptical myself, but the science leads me to think there's some legitimacy to the claims. Even if barrel life is only improved by 50% or dispersion is only reduced by 25%, it's enough to make it worth trying for me. If it doesn't live up to or close to the claims, it will disappear pretty quickly.

I get it but there is one word you use that sums everything up for me right now "IF" and for me the cost and lack a proven track record will have me on the sidelines for a bit. I've owned only one Proof CF barrel very early on and it didn't perform in my style of shooting. But for hunting and wt. it NOW is a great option. Like I said for me it's a niche and I won't go down that rabbit hole but many will and that's what the hype is all about. I hope it proves to be a winner for the sport.
