Ported bullets

Those are certainly an interesting design.

I suspect the recoil reduction and increased veloicity are purely functions of shooting a lighter weight bullet.

Assuming they reduce recoil relative to similar weight bullets, then it's probably more applicable to short range handguns.

I can't imagine that it does anything to improve the BC for long range. It most likely has a negative impact on BC and consistency.

In any case, the design adds complexity to weight distribution and airflow that will affect the entire flight of the bullet. Whereas a simple muzzlebrake no longer affects the bullet once it leaves the barrel.

As a monolithic design, you've already lost a lot of weight/energy and then further reduced weight by hollowing it out. As such, you might as well just reduce your powder charge instead.

Finally, the design doesn't appear to be conducive to hunting in terms of expansion.

agreed - plus, with being a machined bullet, they will be very expensive compared to conventional bullets.
