Got an education on lopes this year and had way different expectations. I haven't chased speed goats in 20 plus years and that was with a bow. I drew a rifle tag for October and I assumed I'd see hundreds of these critters but in 2 days and 170 miles of hammering the desert wagon trails I saw 30! He was the biggest one I'd located and really didn't know how to judge size well at all. Getting close to enough for shots wasn't an issue on the groups I found but a quality buck wasn't turning up. I took this one at about 300. 1 mile pack out an the mystery ranch pack did great. Whole lope weighed less than 1 elk quarter. Ha ha
