I have a Winchester 770 that started out as a 30-06. I have been kicking the idea around of making it into something different. I was thinking new barrel, stock and trigger. What cartridges do you guys suggest? I reload so doesn't need to be something that is found in every store so to say. I thought I read somewhere that the 6.5 Weatherby RPM uses the same bolt face. Any and all suggestions are welcome. Thanks.

I really like the 6.5 Sherman l/a and it would work fine with your action, lots of brass options for forming.
Hard to say without any idea of what you are looking for and what your plans are with the rifle. The 30/06 is a great round and hard to beat as an all around do anything you need to. It might not be the best of anything but it is good for just about everything! I recently had one bored out to a 35 whele n and love it.-- It sits right next to its twin in 30/06.
What about a 35 Whelen?

I did that to one of my 30-06's too.JES did it in two weeks for $250.I really like it.200gr bullets at 2800fps are a hammer and it shoots well too.

something with a .473 face --lots of options out there, its pretty much preference and intended use that will dictate which cartridge
