I have an opportunity to buy a New Ultra Light Arms rifle chambered in a 338 federal. I know melvin forbes is well known for building awesome rifles but i do not know much about the 338 federal cartridge. Does anyone have any good info on it? I'd appreciate any feedback

I have a Kimber Montana in 338 Fed. It's a great short to mid range round. I'm using 186 hammers at mid 2700's with great results. Weighs in at 6 1/4 with a 3-9 trijcon.

Had a 338 Federal for a few years, used Necked up Lapua brass. Mine was in a Tikka, great shooting gun. I had no problems getting good groups to 500 yards, and it was one of the few left hand ones. It like 185 grain TTSX and 210 grain Hornady. I also have a NULA in 308, fantastic rifle. My all time favorite hunting rifle. Head stamp isn't an issue, you can't chamber the 338 Fed in a 308. .
