I did a little horse trading and now have about 7-1/2# of Norma 217. From what I've been able to find its suitable for my overbore 30 magnums. Anyone playing with it in 264 Winchester magnum? Norma hasn't done any work with it yet in that chambering, but their tech thought it should work well to summarize what he said. As they haven't worked with it yet enough to publish anything they wouldn't give any advice.
I would like to shoot the 143 ELDX, from my 26" barreled rifle with 233-235g Nosler brass and either CCI or Winchester magnum rifle primers. I also have federal 215 magnums in the bench and nearly every powder suitible for that rifle. I have been running WC867 with the 140 Berger VLD. It shoots great, as long as I have the right load for the air temperature and I'm tired of playing that game every time the thermometer changes 10•. What say you???

Great question. I have 5 lbs and have the same question. Bought it in anticipation of a custom 338 Norma...

I was able to find out it is "a bit" slower than MRP-2. However, I know from researching other threads, and what the tech from norma said it doesn't play nicely (30-378) if it's reduced too much as the barrel time increases too much and secondary pressure spikes. Maybe I just need to break down and buy Quickload. Now I know why my buddy was wanting to trade....
I'm thinking of starting at 65.0 and .015" off the lands, but am adverse to wearing my rifle in or on my face

Tried it in my 7mm Wea mag. Worked up to 77 grs with a 175 gr Hornady. Vel was 3104 ft/sec and accuracy was moa. Seems like a good powder in this caliber.. Temp stabality also seems good. Will try it later in some of my other mag calibers.

Loaded up a ladder test from 64.0-68.0 .2g at a time. All seated to 2.775" CBTO. Will test with magnetospeed and see how far up the ladder my rifle will be able to safely go. I will post my results as soon as I get a chance to get to the range.

Finally made it to the range to test this setup. I loaded in .2g incriments, but here's the highlights. Never ran into any pressure problems, but I don't see any reason to test any heavier charges.
Hornady 143 (142.5 - 142.7 actual) ELDX 2.775" CBTO
64.0 - 2,942fps
65.0 - 3,002fps
66.0 - 3,041fps
67.0 - 3,108fps
68.0 - 3,168fps
Obviously this IS NOT proofed data. It may not be safe in your rifle. Use at your own risk.
I plan to test for best groupings next trip.

Have you used it up or do you want to sell some? I love it and can't find it anywhere except europe.

Sorry, I'm about half way through my last 8# myself. Must be an import / export issue as it is available elsewhere. I see that you are also a pilot. I have a commercial ticket myself

I spent 24 years in the USAF and then flew for United for 16 years. I checked with several shops in Europe, Sweden, Germany and Denmark and all had it in stock.

I switched my 6.5/06 over to Staball HD to conserve my remaining stash of 217. It is slightly slower than 217, I started a grain lower than my 217 load and worked up. Ended up with about 25 f/s more velocity and a ten cold bore shot SD of 8. So I bought an 8# of it.

I haven't tried it in 264WIN yet, but it's looking like that's going to happen if we can't get 217 here in the next year or so
