New ZCO 420H

I had 6 rifles I HAD to shoot last weekend for load development and fire forming brass.
The ZCO 420H WILL be going out this weekend!

They kept a 36mm tube (increased weight) and limited elevation adjustment to 12 mils????? I was surprised to see that design choice.

I really hope the real world weight is less than what's getting advertised. As it sits, this ZCO420H is less than 4oz weight savings compared to my ZCO420, and still about 5oz heavier than my TT315M.

This. So someone tell us exactly what empty place in the market this thing fills other than the insatiable lust of the chronic suffers of Shiny Object Syndrome..........mine's not quite here yet so Im genuinely curious 🤣

If weighs 3 oz less than the NF 4-20x50, barely tunnels (going by the 'old' 420 I had), doesn't have a rotating ocular eyepiece, has a clearly noticeable better image quality (again, going by my old scope), and has almost 5 ft more FOV at lowest power (expected since the NF tunnels a lot). It costs $1000 more than the NF and that premium isn't worth it to everyone, but there are some clear improvements you get for that premium.

If you want to compare to the TT, it costs less, goes to 20x vs 15x, though it weighs more.

I thought I was going to love my 4-20 Atacr. It didn't last long…
I definitely prefer the "old" ZCo to it.

I may or may not have "slightly" exceeded the "suggested" speed signs.
I also had a Steiner T6Xi 3-18Ɨ50 and a 16.5" Proof PXT 6.5mm CF barrel waiting for me too.
What's up with the "Steiner"? I've seen some crazy sales on them lately. I would like to hear your opinion on it also.

Mounted it on a buddy's rifle to test last weekend.
It is decent.
Glass is OK. I would say not as clear as an NX8 2.5-20Ɨ50, but clear enough to shoot .233 brass laying on the ground at 210 yds.
Turrets are good. Tight, no slop, a little muted (thud rather than a crisp click)
Seemed to track, but I only had to dial about 3MIL elevation and .8MIL windage to zero it.
I like the reticle, SCR2.
It might go on my loaner 7RM, or be a gift to my son-in-law on a rifle I won at a banquet. Trying to decide on that. Want to shoot it side-by-side against my NX8 first.

12 mils will get your 28N or 300RUM out WAY farther than anyone will shoot at an animal, sheesh it's going to get a 6.5 manbun beyond 1000. That's way more than a hunting scope will ever need and you still have reticle left at 12 mils for banging steel at a mile.
Big heavy mags like that should get to about 1300 with 11 mils. Not ideal for fun in the sun ELR steel tagging but likely farther than 95% of hunters will ever shoot at a critter and probably farther than 98% of shooters ever should shoot at a critter LOL

As much as I do like the simplicity of the design, for that kind of money, I want it ALL!!!
ALL the elevation to 1700+ , ALL the glass with "zero compromise", ALL the top end magnification up to 25-30x etc... For 4 grand, I would spend my $$ elsewhere.

Scopes in the 4k range that give you all of it...in about the same weight range with up to 27 mils after zero.

Thanks for posting this. 4k and the glass is "ok?" Not as clear as an NX8? Surprised and disappointed at that.

They still make the regular 420 that doesn't have limited elevation travel. Think of this new one as competing against the 315M while the 'old' 420 would compete against the 315P.
