New rem PSS 308. NF SHV 4-14or zeiss hd 5-25????

About the same price, & I've never owned a NF. I have a couple zeiss, and love the clarity...esp at low light. Is 14x enough magnification at 500 yd shots? Im a bit knew to all of this, so thanks for your help and patience! Also, I need rings on this gun. Any advice?

I guess it depends on what you want to do at 500 yards. I just got a Vortex 5-20HD on the recommendation of some competitive shooting friends. They go out slightly more than 1000 yards and say 20x is fine. They are shooting steel at those distances. So I would guess if you are looking to hunt at 500 yards with 14x, that should probably do it.
