Good morning all. I joined this site to learn all I can as I am soon to build a Long Range 25.06 for Hunting and some Target shooting. I've never built a Centerfire before so I'm sure that I'll seem a little lost. This will be my 1st "Want Gun". I have all the guns I'll ever need, but I'll never have all the guns I want.

I most likely will be mostly custom. Looking for a Trued Savage Long Action will be the closest to Factory. Custom Barrel, Custom Stock, with added accessories. Nothing directly off the shelf unless I'm forced to buy the action I want directly from Savage.

7" ??? I'm having trouble finding a reputable Barrel manufacture that will build me a barrel with less than 10". A couple but not many to choose from.

Bartlein, Krieger, Rock Creek. These are top drawer barrel makers. There are lots of others.

Proof does 7.5" twist as well.

I agree with this do it justice and do a 7 or 7.5 twist. Possible look at the Sherman 25 sst cartridge while your at it is your starting from scratch. (Note though you will have to completely reload for this cartridge)
