My First Backpacking Hunt

Talking about my first backpack hunting trip.

Sounds like you had a blast , i am going to Idaho in Sept. To back pack hunt for 6 days sleeping where ever we locate game.I to have spent some on specialized back packing gear . Most of my gear I already had from day hike hunting.here are a few items I recently purchased for this trip.
Mountainsmith mountain shelter
Ultra lite floor
Trekking poles
Foldable sleeping pad

I try to keep my spike pack weight around 50-55lbs. including my rifle. I pull out a day pack once camp is set that weighs only about 10 lbs.

My backpack hunts have been a mixture of:

getting away from it all,
putting my feet back on the earth
seeing as much nature as I can
a little bit of a lot of adventure
and hopefully getting some venison or bird.

I really enjoy hearing the wind in the trees and coyote choruses late at night.
