Bear hunting is my addiction. My primary rifle is a Winchester 1892 in 357 magnum, it has a 24" octagon barrel. I blasphemed by mounting a Trijicon RMR on it. My handloaded 158 grain Nosler JSP's reach 2205 (average)fps out of that rifle. Thats using .8 grains above max (according to Hodgdens) load with Lil Gun. I have zero pressure signs though but accuracy falls off any hotter.

I shot this bear under 40 yards. He was the most aggressive black bear I ever encountered. When I shot him he was standing on his hind legs raking a tree with his claws and clacking his teeth together.

One shot right at the base of the neck......DRT.

I had a ol boar doing that and swatting the snow bank he was on.I was sneaking in on him, had the wind. I think he might thought I was a grizzly moving around.Real grizzly area.Had grizzly that seen me clacking there teeth at me many times, stiff legged walk right at me
