Milk Crates

It is unclear exactly why milk crates wind up in rivers. But there seems to be an unending supply of them to be picked up and carried home.

So here is what happened to one of them.

First, I cut the bottom out.

Then I cut three slots in one side all the way down to the ridge and three slots on the other side down to about two inches from the ridge.

Then I rounded up a several old rags to cover the rough edges of the slots.

End result – cheap gun cleaning stand.

Suggested improvement:

Go down to your local saddle shop, that would be B-B (that's B bar B) for you easterners) Leather. Here in Blackfoot that would be between Custom Transmissions and the payday loan plac. Get some pieces of excess chap leather pieces (cheaper thann dirt, bundled) that are wide enough and long enough to lay in the slots and across the top of the slots. Also get some Barg's leather glue (actually any glue that will stick to the plastic will do.) Or any way that you can cobble up to keep in in place will work also.

That way you can return your wife's tee towels and place matts.

Send him the bucks. It be a better deal. The thing you see I got from cabelas and it is a stretchy sleeve that slips over the stock from the barrel end. You have to take the scope off to get it on. Then you put some foam inserts under it to build it up to where you want it. I just put it on and have not hunted with it yet so I do not know if it and the inserts will stay in place. The big problem that I see is it will get wet and hold moisture for a long time. Because it only comes off with the scope off you cannot take it off and throw it in the dryer.

I just took off some see-through rings and replaced them with weaver bases and rings so I put the cheek rest on.

You notice the professional job I did in grinding off the front sight. I tried a dremel tool but in the end just a good file is hard to beat. Birch wood Casey perma blue paste and it looks fine

Yeah and neither does the dirt they hold back. Here in the east we call them retaining walls.

We are suppsoed to get 4-8 inches of snow tomorrow so I guess all of the squirrels will be in their holes.

Part of my problem is my yard has plenty of help. There is a little chipmunk that has a hole right where the gun barrel crosses from the concrete the yard. The little chipmunk has several friends or family members in various parts of my back yard.

After pondering your design between sweet dreams I think it would have been better to leave the bottom on and make it a two gun thing, leaving the handles.

Just think of all of the "stuff" you could lug around in it.

If you must have a 4 rifle thinger. Make two of 'em. Then you could lug twice as much stuff around.

BTW, first 500yd rockchuck that I saw takes was off of sand bags on a crate just like that. Rem 700 7mm Rem Mag. 120gr bullets. That was in about 1967.

Well, somebody ratted me out. The milk crate police came and I have been put on probation for "misuse of milk crates".

While y'all were critiqueing my design I went over to the gunshop to get some "match" bullets for the little gun. All they had was CCI and RWS. I don't mind paying for stuff, but $7.80 + $0.39 tax for a box of 50 bullets. I sure am not going to waste any RWS match bullets on squirrels.

Yep, hand is healed up and the wiring is laying on the floor about four feet away. Need a little warmer weather to work in.

Looks to me like you illegally possess more than <font color="blue">ONE </font> milk crate? If you weren't a career case rustler, they would probably let you off with a fine and time served, but those things are worth money; it adds up. You need to be taught a lesson....I bet you "found" them? What a laugh! Restitution on the others and a heavy punitive fine for the one you damaged.

Because of your pictures, probably a thousand more will be stolen this weekend? You okay with that on your conscience?
