Marmot hunting

That was too much fun! Shooting marmots is one of my favorite hunts. I've shot them with everything from .22 RF to 300 Jarrett. My furthest is 1402 yards with a custom 7 mag build specifically for long range marmots. Using a custom 6.5 PRC this year again built specifically for LR marmots. Also trying to bag one at a mile this year with a custom 300 Norma Improved that shot a .46 moa at a mile last time out. I'll mount that one if it happens!

Cool stuff. Been there, done that. Once I topped 14,000+ groundhogs in WV I went to ID for the chucks (with my handguns- don't own a rifle). I go for 6 days with a friend. Two years ago I did 479 with my .223 Contender, .22-250 XP-100, and suppressed Ruger MK III .22LR. Last year the "freeze" a month before I went killed a bunch. I only got 279. Took 64 in 2 1/2 hours 2 years ago with the .223 Contender. So much fun, it might be illegal!
I total my groundhogs/rockchucks together since they are pretty much the same. Lifetime total now: 15,674- handguns.

Do you know of any outfitters in Idaho,I'd like to give the western marmots a go,despite doing pretty well in Ohio,Kentucky,West Va,NC,and VA,mostly Ohio.I killed 57 gh's last year on Mattituck Long Island New York 575 acres but had to use 22 shorts at close range, hunting and shooting there is very touchy.all shots were 50 yards and under the place was never hunted, the gh's weren't very wary, but it had to be kept very low profile.

I don't know any outfitters in ID for rockchucks. There's one in OR, but he only allows you to kill a few a day!!
What I did in ID was to look up guides for regular hunting. One of them gave me the name of a few friends that had big farms. One of them let me come one year. I killed about 175 in 4 days. He spread the word to friends about this crazy old guy with a handgun that put the bad hurts to his chucks. The word spread. Now, 6 years later, 1750+ chucks, I have access to 10-12 farms & growing.
I think you can understand if I'm not willing to let you know where that is. I have heard that the Twin Falls area has a lot of chucks. I don't go there....yet!
