Loading the 300 WBY Magnum, what would you do?

I'd still check the twist, though likely 1:10.
RL-25 is likely your best bet.

Or Retumbo and or IMR 7828

Lots of good advice. Mine is a late 1980's vintage Wby 300 from Japan and eats up the 180 gr Siroccos behind 78.6 gr of RL22.

Weatherby Customer service is always very helpful. Older German Rifles generally had a 12 twist. I find H 4831 to be a very useful powder, but in these posts I have read much about using H1000. RL 25 and RL 26 . I used to have a target load just for the shooting range of 76.2 grns of H 4831 with the old Sierra GK in 180 Grn. Fed 215 M Primers . It only generated about 2800 fps from the 26 inch barrel. Fun to shoot. You could take that load up to 80 grns for a powerful elk load, if you wanted too. That would give you 3000 fps from a 26 inch BBL. The old Hornady book Vol. 2 ( page 249 ) had H 4831 loads to 82.9 grns for that bullet weight. I never went that hot .

Friend of mine inherited his uncle's cherry condition (maybe shot 12-15rnds) Weatherby MK V with original German scope, 300 WBY and wants me to load for it. SO, I could be all boring and research my manuals and such, but I'd rather see what you all recommend.

Brass: Weatherby 300WBY (new)
Bullet: 200gr ELD-X
Powders: H1000, AA4350, N570, RL-25
Primers: Fed 215 and WLRM

Factory 200gr ELD-X cartridge showed 75.2gr of an extruded powder. Who knows what, but the grain weight used gives an idea of burn rate.

So, lay it on me.

H1000 and 3240 fps ( max load data shows no signs of excess pressure, but my shoulder sure does!!!) These " beasts" can RECOIL! Best I could get was 1.2 Moa using 200 gr Accubond's. That " wby " freeborn" has it's issues!! If you don't mind a single shot rifle, perhaps one could improve the accuracy with Berger's ?? I seated the accubonds just shy of magazine length.

Took one of my 300 WBY's out a couple days ago to shoot a group with some ammo that was loaded last September. 200 grain Nosler AB with 84 grains of H1000. Shot a 1.4" group at 287 yards, doesn't look to be getting any neck/bullet weld yet. I've got a few more rounds left to try in a few months.

i would drop down to 165 -168. but use bonded bullet or a barnes. re-22, re-26. 215 primer.

I've got a 300 Weatherby mark V 26 "tube made in Germany in 1969 and it's 1in 10 Twist. The basic twist rate for this caliber from Weatherby is 1 in 10
