Having a questionable time finding my fav Powers I came across the person using (H-414) loading for his 300 win Mag, and his 308, 7.65 nato. So here's the Question, going to try some and also thinking of trying on some 270 W with 90 gr pills! Has "anyone" used this Power for Any of these? 270, 308, or the 300 WM?

I'm a long time 270 man. look at hodgdon reloading, but anyway if you can find CFE 223 it's superior for light pills for velocity compared to h414. My other advice and I've done lots of varminting with a 270 win. 90 grain is not a good option. At a min 100 grain and the devastation on small critters doesn't matter if you use spire points or hollow points. I actually went to 110 spbt for the higher BC to shoot PD's way out there.

I tried it in my 300WM when I was out of H1000. I shot a Satterlee test with 181 grain Hammer Hunters loaded from 57.5 to 62 grains in .5 grain increments. Found a good node from 60.5 to 61.5, but found H1000 and never explored the node further. On Saturday, I tried using H414 in my 243 Win with Nosler 55 grain BT, but Nosler's mid-load of 50.5 grains came 1/3 up the case neck of new R-P brass. Plan on checking case capacity today, but wanted to pass along as you may encounter this in your 308.

Nice looking "Low Bar" Rifle! The reason I'm asking about this, besides word of mouth. I was. Given 2 box's of 90 gr pills for the 270. Then again, someone said they were using in their 338, and 308. Dont shoot a 338, but do. Shoot the 270 & 308 & 300 WM. But can't find anyone that has Really sat down and worked up loads for any of these. Thanks for the understandin.

H414 is the same a W760 and they are in the 4350 burn rate area. Most manuals say use a Mag primer with this ball powder. I have not used any myself because of greater tempter sensitivity of most ball powders over stick powders. Been handloading for over 40 years. I tried some 90 gr Sierra bullets in a 270 Win once but never could get them to shoot as well as the Sierra 110.
For the 90 gr Sierra bullet my old Sierra manual list W-760 start 52.3 and max 58.9 grs. They used WLR primers which back then was a mag strength primer. This should give you a starting place. H414 should work OK because the suggested powder in the Sierra manual was IMR 4350 and they are in the same burn rate. Good Luck.

90 gr. Are in the range of bragging rights for speed, but i never got them to print well on paper even out of my 26 1:10 twist. the poor Bc... and when you have 100's going about 3600 fps and 110's going 3500 it's a mute point on what it does to sub 20 pound critters. I actually found years ago a 120 hpbt frangible bullet with respectable BC. I bought 1000 and wish that i got more because i ran out in PD shooting in south dakota helping the ranchers out

Looking through my old load book here it says:

7mm-08 / 46.6gr H414 / CCI 200 / 160 Speer GS / 5 shot group @.61 inches - 100 yds
7mm-08 / 45.4gr H414 / CCI 200 / 175 Speer GS / 5 shot group @.41 inches - 100yds

Looks like H414 was primarily good for heavies. All the 110, 120 and 130 loads I wrote down were RL15.

These notes are over ten years old and I only wrote down the data for the loads that worked well. I ditched the load cards from the stuff that I wasn't going to load again.

Sorry I don't have the specific rifles you're working with written down.

Since you have a bunch of 90's The hodgdon online reloading manual has load data for h414, h4350 my old favorite for 100's and CFE. Don't use magum large rifle primers.

You can only load about 120 rounds out of a pound of powder in 270's I'd use a modern powder like 2000-mr or ramshot big game and start with the same amount as cfe 223. Load with short Aol.
