Thought I would throw this out to see if it fly's
I have a 6.5RPM Weatherby.
Also have a lb of H4831 that I have no use for.
Would like to load up a box of 120 gr Sierra Pro Hunter for shooting steel at 300-400 yds
Can't find any data.
Could not download Quickload (Bill G said it was dangerous site)
Anybody have any ideas what a starting load would be.

My buddy was shooting 65 grains of Retumbo under a 147 eld m. 63-66 grains should do pretty good under a 120. He uses slower powders like 7828 ssc and H1000 but I'll ask him if he's ever tried 4831. Good luck.

I could not find any data for 4831,but took 264 Win Mag data and back it way down.
Going to start with 55gr and go up 1/2 gr at a time.
Will crono each shot .
Hope to get around 3200fps

Thanks ,its pretty obvious H4831 is not the best powder for the RPM.
But it works pretty good in 7 Mag so it can't be too bad.
I can get 3100 with 142 Acubond LR and RL25
Do you think 55 gr is too light.?
I have read that you can get too light with slow powder>

There is a reason you can't find load data for H4831 in the 6.5 RPM. It's the same reason you can't find load data for FFF black powder in the 6.5 RPM. It is ill suited to the task. Both Retumbo and H1000 are starting to show up on shelves. They are suitable choices for the 6.5 RPM. The best I've found is Alliant Reloader 25. Which, like all numbers in the reloader series, is no where to be found. Be careful. I'd hate to see a perfectly good Mark V damaged.

I realize its not be best powder for the RPM,but its listed as a usable powder for the 264 Win Mag.which is very similar.
I have no intention of loading anywhere near max loads, just want to make plinking loads.
I have some RL25 and a whole lbs of RL 26,just don't want to waste them.
Also have 100 bullets that are just laying around.

Not necessarily the case, the .264 win mag has almost the same case capacity and has plenty of load data for H4831 and other powders in the same general burn rate. It's more likely the powder manufactures haven't gotten to testing old powders and are focusing on the new stuff instead.

R26 works better

Chiming in on this old thread to ask if anyone has some load data now for 140-156 class projos with H1000, RE26, and Retumbo?
Helping a friend. Looks like case capacity is very close to the .264WM.

Thank you,

PH
