Leupold Mark 5HD Reticle Options Drive Me Nuts!!

Why oh why does Leupold not offer a 2nd focal plane, MOA reticle option in the 3.6-18 power range for the Mark 5HD. The only 2nd focal plane option in the Mark 5HD is the 7-35x56 TMOA which is not a optimal power choice for a hunting scope.

I like the VX series for a hunting scope but the short time I owned a Mark 5HD, the dials were in a totally different league. I want a SFP Mark 5HD but it doesn't exist in a reasonable hunting magnification range.

Have to agree here. I love my Vx5HD but wish the turrets were better like the mark5s.

To get something in the Mark 5HD class I think it would have to be NF ATACR.

ATACR 4-16x42 be a good hunter.I like mills and love the TMR,lucky me.I want a 3-18x44 mark 5,but my ol mark 4 has some life left in it.

I agree with sp6x6 above. The 4-16 would be a killer hunting optic! The one I was running was on a LaRue OBR and I really liked it.

The 4-16 Atacrs are about the perfect hunting scope imo. They could go on a diet and it wouldn't hurt my feelings, but they are drop dead reliable, capped windage and locking elevation along with good reticles. I keep trying other scopes and keep coming back to them.

Leupold has capitulated to the masses for survival. No way would I spend a $1000-1700 more for 3/4 of a pound more weight. Just get a VX6 if you want a Leupold to get the reticle you want or drop another grand.
