Lee Autoprime Question

I've got a Lee Auto prime with the square tray. I use it for small rifle .223 and 300 Blackout.

I'm having nothing but trouble with the thing. The primers don't feed correctly and they get turned sideways and flipped over when they are lifted into the middle level. This seems like a complicated process for such a simple task. Is this common with the square tray model? I have an older one with the round tray I use with large rifle loads, and don't have the problems.

The Lee is going in tthe trash if I can't get some help with this.

If I go buy another one, who makes the best out there?

Thanks for your responses.

I had a Lee with round tray and wore it out and while I liked it. The next one I bought was a RCBS and it is way better then than the Lee. I would buy RCBS again.

Check and make sure the right assembly for Small primers and punch are in properly installed. Check to see if there is any burrs of plastic from a leaky mold when parts were formed. If you find any burrs, A Sharp X-Exacto knife or sharp small pocket knife blade can do wonders.
If you decide go with the RCBS hand primer. They use a standard press shell holder. It is handy to have shell holders in sets, Especially 223, 308 and magnum case size. It takes time to remove and replace the shell holder from the hand primer so you can put it back in your press to load a few shells at a time. Happy Loading.
