I've only wounded maybe 2 hogs in 12 years when I'm hunting, and my brother about the same, but my cousin insists on using a .243 and even when he hits them in the right place, they don't always drop right there. If he didn't bring half a cow to our outings and do most the cooking, we'd probably stop inviting him. We've finally told him to get a rifle big enough to not bounce bullets off their hides, so he is looking around for something a little better to shoot them with. Being a City boy, we don't trust him to follow them into the brush. Would sort of be like sending you into a bar to get a bottle of water! Probably wouldn't see either of you again!
As far as leaving the hunting to those that know what they are doing, I personally think that you are the master of Photo shop and haven't shot a hog yourself in several years! That is the reason that you stopped showing your picture with the hogs. Hard to photo shop yourself into the pictures of the hogs your neighbors have shot!
I do have a question for you though. Back when you were an honest hunter, about 20 years ago, you posed with a picture of what looks like a 20 mm cannon. See below:
What is it? You claimed you and another guy shot a hog with it from about 1/2 mile away and across a creek where you couldn't retrieve the hog. We knew then it was BS, cause there ain't no cricks that deep in Texas! But was always curious about the rifle.
Heck, without even seeing it in person, will give you $50.00 for it.

I've got one of those Savage 338 Lapuas and the recoil isn't that bad. The muzzle brake does a very effective job of taming that thing. The muzzle blast does a pretty good job of clearing everything off of your bench with an a 3 or 4 foot radius. Put a suppressor on one, and it's a joy to shoot!

I remember the ram and it was a great shot and a nice Ram. Also remember you shooting it at the before mentioned Hog. OK, so I'll go to $75.00 but you have to leave the can on it! Heck will even throw in an extra $25.00 for the Scope! Just as a sweetener, will throw in a 6 pack of Bud Light even though I know I'm overpaying!
It's also an excuse so you don't have to shave, clean-up and look presentable! Especially after sleeping in your truck all night! I was going to suggest that you start putting a bag over your head, but you stopped posting your pictures, which is just as good!

Just in case you are wondering how to ship that rifle, just break it down into the shortest package you can and use a Golf Club box from the local Golf course. I figured this would never occur to you so decided that I ought to help.

OK, just so I get this straight.....You pack up from some backwater state back east and move to Texas and everyone else is knee deep in hogs and you are just now going to contribute to the thread and go Hog hunting? You've got to stop spending all your time trying to make babies, come up for air now and then, and start looking for hogs. I mean, I live in Tucson, and am lucky to get to go twice a year and here you are living in the land of plenty, Hog wise, and are spending all your money on toys for the kids!
Time to get your priorities straight. Don't get me wrong, I like kids, especially baked, broiled or fried, but it's time to develop a new hobby, well, unless you're recently married, but with a 3 year old, I doubt that. I do remember being recently married and having to fight off the new wife, who couldn't keep her hands off me, but there is life after the 3 hours daily spent keeping the wife/Significant other, satisfied! (No djones, no pictures) Even today! That still leaves 20 hours in the day to hunt!.....(I know it should be 21, but there are excretionary things to take care of!)
OK? so buckle down and go get us some hogs!

Sorry djones, But not mine! I drive a big crew cab Ford, bright medium Red Metallic, and I know how to drive in the snow. I learned to drive in Germany where they have real winters and not this powdering we got here. When it gets down to 26 below and your spit freezes before it hits the ground, along with something else, then it is cold.
But, there were a number of incidents like you portrayed in my picture, from Arizonans that don't know how to drive in the snow. I had to laugh, because people with 4 wheel drives were driving safe and slow and getting where they wanted to go, and all the SUV's drove like there was no snow and ended up in the ditches. Most of the Snow Birds got off the streets because the Arizonans drove like idiots!
